An Israel not dependent on America will at least shut down a large criticism of jew haters on both the right and left. More autonomy for israel to do what needs to be done, g-d forbid there is a next time. But I do dread an Israel estranged from America
Your concerns are real and reasonable: a more autonomous Israel might reduce external criticism, but the cost of distancing itself from the United States is equally unsettling.
I would point out that the MOU under Obama was far more restrictive than previous making it easy for Biden to use it against Israel during the war. It's about time we end this lunacy.
Is it not possible that (1) the US does have a plan for Tehran but not ready to execute. It's not like Trump can snap his fingers and boom it's done or(2) Israel is mobilizing but not ready yet. It is excruciating to watch so many Iranians being murdered and I wish action would be taken now instead of later.
I see Trump as a 9 year old boy playing solider going, “Bam, I wiped out your boats. Bam, I bombed your nukes.” At this point, he’s addicted to “one and done” military operations which make the Dems crazy, offer no real short-term risk, and indulge his inner child. Of course, there’s never a step 2 because this is a 9 year old we’re talking about.
I think another attack on Iran is inevitable. The child is loose and the guardians of Trump 1 are nowhere to be found.
Now is the time for Israel to bomb Iran's ballistic missiles.
Hell of a time for the new series of “Tehran” to be on air!
Glad you've joined this platform: I just cross-posted this to let my readers know. Welcome!

estranged
Finding a balance between autonomy and allies, avoiding both over-reliance and loss of key support, may be the safest, yet most difficult, path.
Your concerns are real and reasonable: a more autonomous Israel might reduce external criticism, but the cost of distancing itself from the United States is equally unsettling.

Hopefully, this time the government will not just offer slogans, but will come up with concrete solutions.
