Sorry, this is not settler violence. The tactics might be wrong, but there was no violence. According to reports, the house in question was being used by Palestinians to throw rocks and insults at the Israelis who farm on that land, which is not illegal. You and the press seem to leave out the part of what precipitated this action. There is a small sector of settler violence, mainly teenagers, and it is legitimate to speak of them, but not Israeli's setting up a tent, even if that is wrong. Huckabee is an easy person to manipulate; recall the incident with the burning of a nonexistent church. You should dig deeper into this story before publishing only one side of it.
Thank you for coming out so strongly against settler violence. Admittedly, I was concerned in an earlier conversation you had with Dan Senor where I inferred some ambivalence. I am an avid advocate for Israel but do not want to defend the indefensible. It is morally loathsome and strategically stupid for the reasons you have stated. I understand that Tal Becker is of a like mind to you on this.
Excellent analysis. Of course, there would be no problems in Israel if in 1967 Israel emulated the Czechs with their 1947 Benes Decree (Sudeten Germans) and expelled all the troublemakers. Alas, not wishing to emulate ethnic cleansers, Israel returned the Sinai, gave autonomy to Gaza and Judea/Samaria and faces extinction once the Marxist anti-Semites expel the GOP from power.....with the active support of imbecilic anti-Bibi Jews. The good news: there is plenty of room for settlers and urban people in Texas and Colorado. I remember a time when two sides of an issue were given a hearing in the press. Yes, I am that old ! What should I think about yet another story of "settler violence" ? Where is the evidence that I should believe anything that the one sided press has to say on the subject ? Why were these "settlers" setting up shop in front of these Arabs homes (if in fact they were) ? I guess we'll never know, will we.
You would think a country of Jews who continue to revere biblical figures could find a way to continue to revere the founding figures of the state of Israel.
