Shouldn’t the U.S. and Israel engage in a psyop to further discredit the Iranian regime and its loyalists? What I have in mind is the undermining of its theological foundation. Maybe call it “the Mahdi wept”.
For those Twelver Shi’a who believe their actions can help bring about the return of the “occluded Mahdi” who will usher in the Islamic End Times, it should be self-evident that whoever this vanguard of believers is supposed to be, it’s not the IRGC, Basij or any of the leaders of what’s left of the Iranian regime’s leadership.
Perhaps the Mahdi could explain that he is in charge of the scheduling of his return and anyone who thinks they can affect it is a blasphemer.
Would such an outreach be Islamophobic? Given that this term was created to shut down all criticism of Islam and its doctrines, the West should answer that question with a loud, “who cares?”
